Best Countertop Dishwashers 2027

Best countertop dishwashers 2027: we compared 7 models from 229 to 300 euros, with a tap connection and with a water tank, by water and energy use, noise, capacity and size.

Ažurirano

Countertop dishwashers are small dishwashers that sit on the kitchen worktop rather than under it. They wash 2 to 6 place settings and need no installation: you connect them to the tap with a hose or fill them from a built-in water tank. This guide is for singles, couples, students, holiday rental owners and anyone whose kitchen has no room for a 45 or 60 cm dishwasher. The best countertop dishwashers 2027 on Amazon.de are the Bomann TSG 7405 as the quietest confirmed 6-place model, the Exquisit GSP5206-030D with a door that opens itself for drying, and the Bomann TSG 5702 with a 5-litre tank that needs no plumbing at all. We compared seven models with live prices as of 27 October 2026, from 229.90 to 299.95 euros.

First decide whether you will connect the dishwasher to the tap or fill it by hand. That decides how much fits inside and how much attention it needs.

How to choose countertop dishwashers

All countertop dishwashers look alike, but they differ in a few things that decide whether you are still happy with yours after a month.

Tap connection or water tank

The 6-place models (Bomann TSG 7405, Exquisit, Midea, Medion DWT60) take water through a hose from the kitchen tap and pump the dirty water through a second hose into the sink. Both hoses are in the box; for the connection you usually need a tap adapter or the angle valve under the sink. Mini models have a built-in tank (5 litres on the Bomann TSG 5702) that you fill with a jug before every wash. That makes them a dishwasher without a water connection: they work in a holiday flat, a camping cabin or a rented flat where you can't touch the plumbing. The price is less capacity and filling by hand every time.

Number of place settings

One place setting under the EU standard means a deep and a flat plate, a dessert plate, a cup and saucer, a glass and cutlery. In practice:

  • 2 place settings (Medion DWT20) suit one person who eats at home once a day.
  • 3 place settings (Bomann TSG 5702, Medion DWT30) suit one or two people.
  • 6 place settings make a dishwasher for 2 people who cook regularly, or for a three-person household if you run it every day.

Pots and larger pans don't fit in mini models, and in the 6-place ones usually only a small pot fits, often only with the cutlery basket taken out.

Energy class and water use

Since 1 March 2021 a new EU energy label with classes A to G applies (Regulation 2019/2017). Most models in this comparison are class D, which sounds bad, but the classes were made stricter in the reform. The Medion DWT20 (MD 370764) is the only class B model in this comparison, at 24 kWh per 100 cycles. The three 6-place models checked in EPREL use 49 kWh per 100 cycles and 6.5 litres of water on the eco programme.

For comparison, the European Commission says washing by hand uses about 20 litres of water, while an efficient full-size dishwasher uses about 9 litres for up to 15 place settings. A University of Bonn study (Stamminger, 2003) found that people washing by hand used 20 to 300 litres of water and 0.1 to 8 kWh for the same load a fully loaded standard machine of the time cleaned with 15 to 22 litres and 1 to 2 kWh.

Noise

A countertop dishwasher sits on the worktop, half a metre closer to your ears than a built-in one, and you can hear that. The Bomann TSG 7405 at 47 dB is the quietest in this comparison. The tank models are rated at 58 dB, roughly a normal conversation. Verbraucherzentrale, the German consumer advice centre, calls dishwashers below 44 dB truly quiet, and no model in this comparison reaches that. If your kitchen shares a room with the living area, start the wash when you go out or use the delay timer.

Size and space on the worktop

6-place countertop dishwashers measure about 55 x 50 x 44 cm and weigh 20 to 21.5 kg. They fit on a standard 60 cm deep worktop, but measure the gap to the wall cabinets: you need at least 45 cm of height plus room to open the door. With its door open, the Exquisit takes 81.2 cm of depth. Mini models (about 42-45.5 x 41-44 x 43.5-49 cm, 13.5 to 14.5 kg) fit even in a corner next to the microwave.

Drying, salt and rinse aid

Countertop dishwashers mostly dry with residual heat, so plastic stays damp. The Exquisit and the Midea open the door slightly at the end of the programme, which lets the steam out. According to the manufacturers, both Bomann models, the Exquisit and the Midea have a water softener that uses dishwasher salt. Where water is hard, salt and rinse aid noticeably reduce white spots on glasses.

Countertop dishwasher or 45 cm slimline?

A 45 cm freestanding slimline dishwasher stands on the floor, is about 85 cm tall and usually washes 8 to 10 place settings. If you have a free unit under the worktop and a water connection, it is the more practical choice: pots fit, and it uses less water and electricity per place setting. Verbraucherzentrale points out that even 45 cm slimline models are not cheaper to buy or run than 60 cm ones, and per place setting that applies all the more to even smaller countertop machines.

Countertop dishwashers make sense when that space doesn't exist: in a small kitchen, a studio flat, a student room, an office kitchenette or a holiday rental. They need no installation, and when you move you simply take them with you.

1. Bomann TSG 7405

Bomann TSG 7405 black countertop dishwasher for 6 place settings with the control panel on top of the door Photo: Bomann, Amazon

Check on Amazon

The Bomann TSG 7405 is our pick for most households. For 253.95 euros it washes 6 place settings using 6.5 litres of water and 49 kWh per 100 cycles, and at 47 dB it is the quietest model with an EPREL-confirmed figure (the Midea is also advertised at 47 dB, without an EPREL entry). The inlet and drain hoses (about 155 cm each) are in the box, and overflow protection guards against too high a water level inside the machine.

There are five programmes: intensive, universal, eco, glass and a 30-minute quick wash. Eco takes 215 minutes. That sounds long, but eco programmes generally work this way: lower temperature, longer contact time. The delay timer only goes in steps of 2, 4 and 6 hours. A water softener with salt and rinse aid indicators is built in.

Feature Detail
Place settings 6
Energy class D (49 kWh / 100 cycles)
Water per eco cycle 6.5 L
Noise 47 dB
Programmes 5 (quick 30 min)
Extras water softener, rinse aid dispenser, overflow protection
Water supply tap, hoses included
Dimensions (W x D x H) 55 x 50 x 43.8 cm
Weight 20 kg
Price 253.95 €

Pros: quietest confirmed noise level in the comparison, full 6-place capacity, water softener and rinse aid dispenser, hoses and overflow protection included, fair price.

Cons: must be connected to a tap and drain, only 5 programmes, delay only 2, 4 or 6 hours.

Our opinion: If you have a tap nearby and need a dishwasher for two, this is the fewest compromises for the money. 47 dB matters more than it sounds when the dishwasher stands a metre from the sofa.

2. Exquisit GSP5206-030D

Check on Amazon

The Exquisit GSP5206-030D has the same consumption as the Bomann (6.5 litres, 49 kWh per 100 cycles, class D), plus something you notice every day: Door Open. At the end of the programme the door opens slightly by itself, the steam escapes and the dishes dry better. Like the Bomann, it has a built-in water softener with salt and rinse aid indicators.

There are seven programmes, including Power+ for heavily soiled dishes and a self-cleaning programme, and the start can be delayed by up to 24 hours. At 49 dB it is a little louder than the Bomann, and 46 euros more expensive.

Feature Detail
Place settings 6
Energy class D (49 kWh / 100 cycles)
Water per eco cycle 6.5 L
Noise 49 dB
Programmes 7 (incl. Power+, 90 min, self-cleaning)
Extras automatic door opening, water softener
Dimensions (W x D x H) 55 x 50 x 43.8 cm (81.2 cm deep with the door open)
Price 299.95 €

Pros: door opens itself for drying, water softener, 7 programmes, delay up to 24 hours, figures confirmed in EPREL.

Cons: most expensive in the comparison, needs a water connection, 2 dB louder than the Bomann.

Our opinion: The best choice if you hate wet plastic containers. The extra money mainly buys automatic door opening, so drier dishes, and seven programmes.

3. Midea MDWTT0602MW-WE

Check on Amazon

The Midea MDWTT0602MW-WE is the only 6-place countertop dishwasher in this list with WiFi. In the MSmartHome app you start programmes remotely and track water and electricity use. It has an Auto programme, a door that opens slightly at the end (AutoOpen), extra drying and a water softener, and the start can be delayed by 1 to 24 hours.

Class D and 47 dB are stated by the seller in the listing title. We found no EPREL entry for this model, and Midea's German website shows a different 6-place model (ST 3.6F wi, class F, 49 dB). So when you buy, check that the name says MDWTT0602MW-WE.

Feature Detail
Place settings 6
Energy class D (according to the seller)
Noise 47 dB (according to the seller)
Programmes 7 (incl. Auto and self-cleaning)
Extras WiFi and MSmartHome app, AutoOpen, water softener
Water supply tap, hoses included
Dimensions (W x D x H) about 55 x 50 x 44 cm
Price 249.99 €

Pros: control and consumption tracking from the app, automatic programme, door opens itself, water softener, cheaper than the Exquisit.

Cons: consumption and noise figures not confirmed in EPREL, needs a water connection, the MSmartHome app typically requires registration.

Our opinion: A good buy if you want the Exquisit's automatic door opening for 50 euros less, with an app as a bonus. We trust the declared figures less than those of the Bomann and the Exquisit.

4. Medion Life DWT60

Medion Life DWT60 black countertop dishwasher for 6 place settings with LED display Photo: Medion, Amazon

Check on Amazon

The Medion Life DWT60 (model number MD 37496) is the cheapest 6-place countertop dishwasher in this comparison: 239.95 euros for the black version. Consumption is the same as the Bomann and the Exquisit, 6.5 litres and 49 kWh per 100 cycles. It has seven programmes, a 1 to 24 hour delay timer and a mechanical AquaStop on the inlet hose.

Medion and the seller state 47 dB, but EPREL lists 49 dB, so count on the higher figure. The door doesn't open by itself. Medion's description doesn't mention a water softener, but a salt funnel is in the box.

Feature Detail
Place settings 6
Energy class D (49 kWh / 100 cycles)
Water per eco cycle 6.5 L
Noise 49 dB (EPREL)
Programmes 7 (incl. 90 min and self-cleaning)
Protection mechanical AquaStop
Dimensions (W x D x H) 55 x 50 x 44 cm
Weight 21.4 kg
Price 239.95 €

Pros: lowest price for 6 place settings, AquaStop, 7 programmes, delay up to 24 hours, white, silver or black.

Cons: no automatic door opening, needs a tap and drain, declared noise is higher in EPREL than in the description.

Our opinion: For anyone who wants 6 place settings at the lowest price. The difference from the Bomann is 14 euros, so it comes down to colour and whether you value AquaStop more than 2 dB of quiet.

5. Bomann TSG 5702

Check on Amazon

The Bomann TSG 5702 is the best small dishwasher if you don't want to connect anything. The built-in tank holds 5 litres, and an eco cycle uses 4.2 litres, the least in this comparison. Energy class is C, at 31 kWh per 100 cycles. When you need to, you can also connect it to a tap; 150 cm hoses are in the box.

It washes 3 place settings in six programmes, with a fresh-air function. At 58 dB it is louder than the 6-place models, and you fill the tank by hand before every wash.

Feature Detail
Place settings 3
Energy class C (31 kWh / 100 cycles)
Water per eco cycle 4.2 L
Noise 58 dB
Programmes 6
Water supply 5 L tank or tap
Dimensions (W x D x H) 43 x 44 x 46 cm
Weight 14 kg
Price 239.00 €

Pros: lowest water use, class C, works from the tank or the tap, compact and light.

Cons: only 3 place settings, 58 dB, the tank needs filling before every wash.

Our opinion: The best dishwasher without a water connection for one or two people. If you rent and can't drill or change the tap, start here.

6. Medion Life DWT20

Medion Life DWT20 gold-coloured mini dishwasher for 2 place settings with a window in the door Photo: Medion, Amazon

Check on Amazon

The Medion Life DWT20 (MD 370764) is the only class B model in this comparison: 24 kWh per 100 cycles and 5 litres of water per wash according to EPREL. It washes 2 place settings, so it is made for one person. It works from the tank or the tap and has six programmes including Baby Care for bottles, a delay of up to 24 hours and a window in the door.

Watch the model number. An older version, MD 37763, is sold under the same DWT20 name and is not class B.

Feature Detail
Place settings 2
Energy class B (24 kWh / 100 cycles)
Water per cycle 5 L
Noise 58 dB
Programmes 6 (incl. Baby Care)
Water supply tank or tap
Dimensions (W x D x H) 42 x 44 x 43.5 cm
Weight 13.5 kg
Price 229.90 €

Pros: best energy class in the comparison, smallest and lightest, bottle programme, works without installation.

Cons: only 2 place settings, 58 dB, an older version with the same name has a worse class.

Our opinion: For a single person or a parent washing bottles every day, this is the most economical option. For a couple it will be too small after the first dinner with guests.

7. Medion Life DWT30

Check on Amazon

The Medion Life DWT30 (MD 370022) has a removable tank, so you can fill it at the bathroom tap and put it back. It also runs on a fixed connection or draws water from a bucket, which is handy in a holiday home, a camping cabin or a camper van. It washes 3 place settings using 5.7 litres and 33 kWh per 100 cycles (class D).

The eco programme takes 137 minutes, 78 minutes less than on the Bomann TSG 7405. It also has a UV light and fan drying, and noise is 58 dB.

Feature Detail
Place settings 3
Energy class D (33 kWh / 100 cycles)
Water per cycle 5.7 L
Noise 58 dB
Programmes 6 (quick 35 min, eco 137 min)
Water supply removable tank, bucket or tap
Extras UV light, fan drying
Dimensions (W x D x H) 45.4 x 41.3 x 49.1 cm
Price 229.95 €

Pros: removable tank, three ways to supply water, fan drying, short eco programme.

Cons: only 3 place settings, class D, 58 dB.

Our opinion: The most flexible choice for places without a kitchen tap. For everyday use in a flat, the Bomann TSG 5702 uses less water.

Setup and maintenance

6-place countertop dishwashers connect in a few minutes:

  1. Place the dishwasher on a flat, dry surface close to the sink, so the drain hose runs downwards without kinks.
  2. Connect the inlet hose to the tap with an adapter or to the angle valve under the sink.
  3. Hang the drain hose in the sink or connect it to a siphon with a dishwasher connection.
  4. Before the first wash, run an empty programme to rinse out factory residue.

With tank models, fill the tank to the mark and put the drain hose in the sink or a bucket. Once a week take out and rinse the filter at the bottom, and once a month run the self-cleaning programme or a hot programme with dishwasher cleaner. If the dishwasher has a softener, top up the salt when the indicator lights up. Check the detergent dose in the manual, because a small dishwasher uses less water than a large one.

Conclusion: which countertop dishwashers to choose?

Countertop dishwashers are a good buy when you have neither the space nor the plumbing for a 45 cm machine. With a tap, the Bomann TSG 7405 gives you 6 place settings and the quietest operation for 253.95 euros. Without a tap, the Bomann TSG 5702 uses the least water and runs from its tank. If you only wash for yourself, the Medion Life DWT20 is the only one with energy class B.

Frequently asked questions

Does a countertop dishwasher need a water connection?

It depends on the model. 6-place countertop dishwashers connect to the tap with a hose and drain into the sink. Mini models such as the Bomann TSG 5702 (5-litre tank), Medion DWT20 and DWT30 can run from a tank that you fill by hand, so no installation is needed. Their waste water still goes through a hose into the sink or a bucket.

How much water and electricity does a countertop dishwasher use?

According to EPREL, 6-place models use 6.5 litres of water and 49 kWh per 100 cycles, or 0.49 kWh per wash. The Bomann TSG 5702 uses 4.2 litres and 31 kWh, and the Medion DWT20 5 litres and 24 kWh. Washing by hand uses about 20 litres of water, according to the European Commission.

Do pots fit in a countertop dishwasher?

A small pot or pan usually fits in 6-place models, often only once you take out the cutlery basket, but large soup pots don't. Mini models for 2 to 3 place settings are meant for plates, glasses, cups and cutlery. If you often cook in large pots, a 45 cm slimline dishwasher is the better choice.

Is a countertop dishwasher worth it for one or two people?

Yes, if you fill it. One person gets by with 2 to 3 place settings; a couple who cook every day are better off with 6. The real saving is against washing by hand under running water. A 6-place model uses 6.5 litres for 6 place settings, while a full-size one uses about 9 litres for 15, so per place setting the small one uses more. A half-empty dishwasher loses that advantage.

Does a countertop dishwasher need salt?

Only if it has a built-in water softener. According to the manufacturers, the Bomann TSG 7405, Bomann TSG 5702, Exquisit GSP5206-030D and Midea MDWTT0602MW-WE do, and the Medion DWT60 comes with a salt funnel. In those, salt prevents limescale and spots on glasses, which matters in hard water areas. Models without a softener don't need salt, but rinse aid or tablets with rinse aid still help.

How loud are countertop dishwashers?

6-place models are rated at 47 to 49 dB, and mini models with a tank at 58 dB. The quietest with an EPREL-confirmed figure is the Bomann TSG 7405 at 47 dB. Because it sits on the worktop, you hear a countertop dishwasher more than a built-in one, so use the delay timer to run it when you're out of the kitchen.

How we chose

We looked at ten countertop dishwashers available on Amazon.de with delivery to Croatia. For six models we checked water and energy use and noise in the EU energy label database EPREL and on the manufacturers' websites; where figures differ, we give the EPREL value. We found no EPREL entry for the Midea MDWTT0602MW-WE and say so. Prices are live Amazon.de prices as of 27 October 2026 and may change. We left out the Candy CP 8F9FFA because of its energy class F and 59.5 cm height, and the Comfee Mini Lite because the listing doesn't state its number of place settings and the model number is inconsistent. We did not test the products physically.
