Plancha grills are flat metal plates that get very hot, and on them you cook fish, prawns, vegetables and meat without a grate for small pieces to fall through. This guide is for anyone who wants Mediterranean-style cooking on a terrace, balcony or campsite and can't decide between gas, electric and a plate that sits on the grill they already own. The best plancha grills 2027 on Amazon.de are the Grillfürst Plancha Grill as the best power for the money, the Tefal Plancha Booster as the cheapest electric model and the Weber Plancha 7421 for Weber grill owners. We compared seven models with live prices as of 26 October 2026, from 45 to 500 euros.
Before you buy plancha grills, decide on the heat source. A gas plancha is the most powerful and belongs outdoors only, an electric one works wherever you have a socket, and a grill-top plate is the cheapest option if a grill is already on your terrace.

How to choose a plancha grill
Gas, electric or grill-top plate. A gas plancha gives the most power and recovers its temperature fastest when you put cold food on it. The Grillfürst has 7 kW, more than twice most electric models. An electric plancha works on a balcony and in the kitchen, with no bottle and no flame. A cast iron plate that sits on your existing grill is the cheapest route to a plancha, but it depends on the grill underneath.
Plate material. Plancha grills come with three kinds of plate. Stainless steel doesn't rust, needs no seasoning and takes a metal spatula, but food sticks until you learn the right temperature. Enamelled cast iron holds heat for a long time and spreads it evenly, but it's heavy and the enamel can chip if knocked. Non-stick coating is the easiest for beginners, but it doesn't like metal utensils and wears over the years.
Power and zones. The better plancha grills have two heat zones. Two burners or two thermostats mean two zones: sear a steak on high heat on one side and keep vegetables warm on the other. For four or more people, look for two zones.
Size and grease. A plate of about 55 x 35 cm is enough for a family of four to six. Check the grease tray too: the Krampouz Saveur holds 70 cl, the Grillfürst about 300 ml, and the Weber plate has no grease channel.
Balconies and rules. Gas on an apartment balcony is governed by your building's house rules and the manufacturer's instructions, and Krampouz explicitly says the Samba is for outdoor use only. If you're not sure you may keep a gas bottle on the balcony, an electric plancha settles the question.
1. Grillfürst Plancha Grill
Photo: Grillfürst, Amazon
The Grillfürst Plancha Grill has two stainless burners with a combined 7 kW and a 5 mm thick stainless steel plate. According to Grillfürst's official page, the plate heats to over 300 °C and the cooking area is 56 x 36 cm. At 299 euros, no gas plancha on the list gives you this much power.
The burners are controlled separately, so you get a hot zone and a gentler one. Ignition is piezo with a pilot flame, it runs at 50 mbar, and the hose and regulator are included. The whole unit weighs 14.5 kg, 9.6 kg of which is the plate, so one adult can still carry it alone.
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Type | gas plancha |
| Power | 7 kW (2 x 3.5 kW) |
| Plate | stainless 5 mm, 56 x 36 cm |
| Temperature | over 300 °C |
| Grease tray | about 300 ml |
| Weight | 14.5 kg |
| Price | 299.00 € |
Pros: most powerful gas plancha on the list, thick stainless plate that won't warp, two zones, hose and regulator included.
Cons: 300 ml grease tray is small for long sessions, lid sold separately, food sticks to stainless until you get the temperature right.
Our opinion: If we were buying one plancha for a terrace and a family, it would be this one. With seven kilowatts the plate recovers its temperature quickly even when you add a lot of cold food.
2. Krampouz Samba Gaz
Photo: Krampouz, Amazon
Krampouz is a French maker of crêpe makers and planchas from Brittany, and the Samba Gaz (PFSB2MA) is one of its more compact gas models. According to Krampouz's page it has two U-shaped burners of 1500 W each, a 54 x 33 cm stainless plate and a 43 cl pull-out grease tray.
At 3 kW it has less power than the Grillfürst, but according to the manufacturer the U-burners sit close to the plate and are designed to heat it evenly. The warranty is two years on the appliance and ten on the plate. The hose and regulator are not included, and the manufacturer states the unit is for outdoor use only.
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Type | gas plancha |
| Power | 3000 W (2 x 1500 W) |
| Plate | stainless, 54 x 33 cm |
| Grease tray | 43 cl |
| Weight | 13.5 kg |
| Warranty | 2 yrs appliance, 10 yrs plate |
| Price | 448.78 € |
Pros: made in France, ten-year plate warranty, two independent zones, U-burners close to the plate.
Cons: expensive for 3 kW, hose and regulator sold separately, outdoor use only.
Our opinion: The Samba isn't the most powerful, but it's built to last. If ten years of warranty on the plate matters more to you than kilowatts, it's worth it.
3. Campingaz Othello 1 CV
Photo: Campingaz, Amazon
The Campingaz Othello 1 CV is a small tabletop plancha with one 2.8 kW burner and an enamelled steel plate. It runs on Campingaz CV cartridges, so you need no bottle or hose, which makes it handy for camping, a boat or a holiday cottage. At 118 euros it's the cheapest gas plancha in the comparison.
The burner uses Campingaz's Blue Flame technology, and the enamelled plate is easy to clean. We couldn't reliably verify the plate size or weight, so we don't give them. One burner means one heat zone, which is enough for two to four people.
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Type | portable gas plancha |
| Power | 2.8 kW, 1 burner |
| Plate | enamelled steel |
| Gas | Campingaz CV cartridge |
| Cooking area | not verified |
| Price | 118.18 € |
Pros: cheapest gas plancha on the list, compact and portable, works without a bottle, enamelled plate cleans easily.
Cons: only one zone and 2.8 kW, smaller area for larger groups, CV cartridges cost more per kilo of gas than a bottle.
Our opinion: For camping and boats, the Othello is the right pick. For family lunches on the terrace you'll soon wish for a second burner.
4. Tefal Plancha Booster CB6428
Photo: Tefal, Amazon
The Tefal Plancha Booster CB6428 is a 2200 W electric tabletop plancha with six temperature settings and a Boost zone that heats one part of the plate harder. The plate is continuous with a non-stick coating, and a Thermo-Spot indicator shows when it's ready. At 70 euros it is the cheapest electric plancha in the comparison.
A grease channel collects fat from the plate, and the unit fits on a kitchen table. The non-stick coating means almost nothing sticks, but also that a metal spatula is out of the question. We couldn't verify the exact plate dimensions; Tefal describes the area as "extra large".
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Type | electric tabletop plancha |
| Power | 2200 W |
| Temperature | 6 settings, Boost zone |
| Plate | non-stick coating |
| Grease | drainage channel |
| Price | 69.89 € |
Pros: cheapest electric plancha, works in a flat and on a balcony without gas, Boost zone for meat next to a gentler zone for vegetables, little sticks.
Cons: coating wears over time, no metal utensils, Tefal gives no maximum temperature, and gas and stainless planchas usually run hotter.
Our opinion: For a flat and fish or vegetables once a week, you don't need more. Buy a wooden or silicone spatula and the coating will last longer.
5. Krampouz Saveur
Photo: Krampouz, Amazon
The Krampouz Saveur (PFSV2AA) is an electric plancha with a 64 x 33 cm stainless plate and two thermostats up to 300 °C. According to Krampouz's page it has 3200 W split across two zones, a 70 cl grease tray and IPX4 protection, so it can go outdoors too.
At up to 300 °C it reaches gas plancha temperatures. Stainless steel has no coating to wear off, and the plate has a ten-year warranty. It costs 499 euros and weighs 19.5 kg, so it's not something you'll haul out of a cupboard every week.
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Type | electric plancha |
| Power | 3200 W (2 x 1600 W) |
| Plate | stainless, 64 x 33 cm |
| Temperature | up to 300 °C, 2 thermostats |
| Grease tray | 70 cl |
| Weight | 19.5 kg |
| Price | 499.36 € |
Pros: up to 300 °C like a gas plancha, largest plate among models with stated dimensions, stainless with no coating, big grease tray, IPX4 for outdoor use.
Cons: most expensive model, heavy, 3200 W needs a socket with nothing else power-hungry on the same circuit.
Our opinion: If your building doesn't allow gas and you want a real plancha for six to eight people, the Saveur is the answer. It is expensive. But in this comparison there's no cheaper way to get 300 °C on stainless steel from a socket.
6. Rösle Plancha-Grillplatte
Photo: Rösle, Amazon
The Rösle Plancha-Grillplatte is a 46.5 x 36.5 cm plate of porcelain-enamelled cast iron that sits on the grill grate. It has an extra-high rim, so juices and small pieces stay on the plate. For 84 euros you get a plancha larger than many tabletop appliances.
The enamel means you don't have to season the cast iron with oil like bare iron. Cast iron heats slowly, but once hot it holds the heat and drops less in temperature when you add food. We couldn't verify the weight.
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Type | plate for an existing grill |
| Material | porcelain-enamelled cast iron |
| Dimensions | 46.5 x 36.5 cm |
| Rim | extra high |
| Fitting | on the grill grate |
| Price | 83.99 € |
Pros: large cooking area, high rim keeps juices in, enamel needs no seasoning.
Cons: measure your grate before buying, heavy and slow to heat, enamel can chip if knocked.
Our opinion: If you have a medium or large gas grill, this plate turns it into a plancha for the price of a good pan. Just measure the grate before you order.
7. Weber Plancha 7421
Photo: Weber, Amazon
The Weber Plancha 7421 is an enamelled cast iron insert for the Weber Gourmet BBQ System. According to Weber's page it measures 38.5 x 30.5 cm including handles and sits in the centre opening of a GBS grate. Weber's online shop sells it for 64.99 euros, and on Amazon.de it was 44.53 euros.
The plate stays firmly in place because it drops into the grate opening rather than resting on top. Cast iron spreads heat evenly, so it's good for fish, eggs and vegetables. It's hand-wash only and has no grease channel.

|---|---|
| Type | plate for a Weber grill |
| Material | enamelled cast iron |
| Dimensions | 38.5 x 30.5 x 5.1 cm |
| Compatibility | Weber grates with GBS system |
| Cleaning | hand wash |
| Price | 44.53 € |
Pros: cheapest plancha on the list, sits firmly in the GBS grate, cast iron holds heat.
Cons: only works with Weber GBS grates, small area, no grease channel.
Our opinion: If you have a Weber with a GBS grate, this is the cheapest plancha in this comparison. Without a GBS grate, skip it and get the Rösle.
What to cook on a plancha and how to clean it
Plancha grills are best for anything that would fall through a grate or break apart: prawns, squid, fish fillets, courgettes and peppers cut into strips, mushrooms, eggs, thinly sliced meat. Heat the plate before adding food and oil it lightly with a high smoke point oil. Don't touch the food for the first minute or two. That's when a crust forms and the piece releases from the plate by itself. For ideas, see our barbecue recipes.
Plancha grills are easiest to clean while the plate is still warm. On stainless and cast iron, scrape residue off with a spatula, pour on a little water to loosen what's burnt on and wipe with paper. Wipe non-stick coating only with a soft sponge. After washing a cast iron plate, dry it and give it a thin coat of oil wherever the enamel has chipped.
Conclusion
The best plancha grills 2027 split by heat source. For a terrace and a family, the Grillfürst Plancha Grill gives the most power for the money, and anyone after longevity picks the Krampouz Samba. In a flat or on a balcony without gas, the Tefal Plancha Booster costs 70 euros and the Krampouz Saveur is the premium choice that reaches 300 °C. If you already have a grill, the Rösle or Weber 7421 turn it into a plancha for less than 85 euros.

Frequently asked questions
What is a plancha?
A plancha is a flat metal plate that gets very hot, usually on gas or electricity, on which food is cooked directly, without a grate. The name is Spanish and means "metal plate", and a dish cooked "a la plancha" is cooked on exactly that. Unlike a grate, small pieces and juices stay on the plate, so it's ideal for fish, seafood and vegetables.
Is a plancha or a grill with a grate better?
It depends on the food, and plancha grills and grates complement each other. A grill with a grate gives meat sear marks and smoky flavour, especially over charcoal. A plancha is better for fish, prawns, vegetables and eggs because nothing falls through or sticks to the bars. That's why many people put a plate like the Rösle or Weber 7421 on their grill and have both.
Is a gas or electric plancha better?
Gas is more powerful and recovers temperature faster: the Grillfürst has 7 kW, while the electric models in this comparison have 2.2 to 3.2 kW. An electric plancha works in a flat and on a balcony where gas isn't allowed. If you're allowed to use gas, get a gas one; if not, the Krampouz Saveur reaches 300 °C on electricity too.
Which plancha plate material is best?
Stainless steel lasts longest and takes metal utensils, but needs a bit of skill until you learn the temperature. Enamelled cast iron holds heat best but is heavy. Non-stick coating is easiest for beginners, but it wears and doesn't like metal spatulas.
Can I use a gas plancha on a balcony?
That's decided by your building's house rules and the manufacturer's instructions, not the plancha itself. Krampouz explicitly states outdoor use only for the Samba. Check your building's rules before buying and never use a gas plancha indoors. If you're not sure, an electric plancha is the safer choice for a balcony.
How do I clean a plancha plate?
Clean while the plate is warm. Scrape off residue with a spatula, pour on a little water to loosen what's burnt on and wipe with paper. Wipe non-stick coating only with a soft sponge, no metal. Dry enamelled cast iron well after washing and oil only chipped spots.
