Kids ride-on cars on Amazon.de cost from 95.00 euros for a small quad for one-year-olds to 699.00 euros for a two-seat Peg Perego with a tipping bed. This guide is for parents and grandparents looking for a gift for a child aged one to seven who aren't sure which voltage, speed and equipment to choose. The best kids ride-on cars of 2027 are the Actionbikes Motors Mercedes-AMG G63 with a parental remote at 179.99 euros, the Peg Perego John Deere Gator HPX for two children (699.00 euros) and the Rollplay Mini Cooper S as the most cautious choice for three-year-olds (287.85 euros). We compared seven models using live prices from 30 October 2026.

A ride-on car is not for the road. Manufacturers say so explicitly in their manuals, and the section on where they may be driven explains what the law says.

How to choose a kids ride-on car

Age and voltage

Kids ride-on cars come in 6, 12 and 24 V, and voltage is the best guide to age. Injusa says 6 V models are for the youngest and 12 V ones for older children and longer rides. Peg Perego rates its 6 V tractors for ages 1 to 3 and 12 V models like the Gator and Ground Force for ages 3 and up, because they are too fast for younger children. 24 V models (large UTVs and quads) have more power for slopes and rough ground and are meant for older children.

Remote control and safety

For a child up to three or four, the most important feature is a 2.4 GHz parental remote with a stop button. You drive for the child until they learn to steer, and you can stop the car in an emergency. The Actionbikes G63, Rollplay Mini Cooper, Jamara BMW M4 and Injusa Cayenne have one. Soft start (smooth pull-away), a seat belt and a pedal that brakes when the child lets go come next. The Peg Perego models have no remote, but they have two gears, and first gear suits beginners.

Lead-acid or lithium battery

Cheaper kids ride-on cars have a 6 or 12 V lead-acid battery. It is heavier, takes 10-12 hours to charge and must not be left flat. A lithium battery, like the one in the Jamara BMW M4 and newer Peg Perego models, is lighter and needs less care. Run time ranges from about 37 minutes to 2 hours, depending on model and surface.

One seat or two

With two children in the house, a two-seater means less waiting for a turn. The Peg Perego Gator HPX carries up to 60 kg, and the Injusa Cayenne has two seats with belts. Two-seaters are bigger and heavier: the Cayenne weighs 30 kg and is 134 cm long, so check where you will keep it.

Wheels and terrain

Kids ride-on cars mostly have plastic wheels, sometimes with a rubber ring for better grip. That is enough on asphalt; for grass and gravel, models with stronger motors and a sculpted tread are better, such as the Peg Perego Gator, which the manufacturer says climbs slopes up to 17 %.

Standards and markings

In the EU, toys must meet the Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC and carry the CE mark. Electric ride-ons are tested to EN 71 and EN 62115. The new Regulation (EU) 2025/2509 entered into force on 1 January 2026 and applies from 1 August 2030.

1. Actionbikes Motors Mercedes-AMG G63

Check on Amazon

The Actionbikes Motors Mercedes-AMG G63 is our pick for most families. For 179.99 euros you get a licensed G63 with a 12 V 4.5 Ah battery, two 35 W motors and a 2.4 GHz parental remote with a range of up to 25 metres. The manufacturer's shop gives a speed of 3-5 km/h and an age range of 3-6.

It has soft start, an automatic brake, a two-point belt, rear suspension and an LED battery indicator, plus Bluetooth, USB and MP3. It carries up to 35 kg and weighs 14.9 kg. A ride lasts 1-1.5 hours and charging takes 10-12 hours. It has only one forward gear. The batteries for the remote (2 x AAA) are not included.

Feature Detail
Licence Mercedes-AMG G63
Battery 12 V / 4.5 Ah
Motors 2 x 35 W
Speed 3-5 km/h
Age 3-6 years
Maximum load 35 kg
Remote 2.4 GHz, up to 25 m
Run / charge time 1-1.5 h / 10-12 h
Price 179.99 €

Pros: cheapest licensed 12 V car with a remote in the comparison, soft start, belt and automatic brake, suspension and battery indicator.

Cons: only one forward gear, 10-12 hours to charge, the 4.5 Ah battery gives shorter rides than larger ones.

Our opinion: For a three-year-old who wants a "real" car, this is the most equipment for the least money. You'll need the remote most while the child learns to steer, and the manufacturer rates the car for children up to six.

2. Peg Perego John Deere Gator HPX

Check on Amazon

The Peg Perego John Deere Gator HPX is a two-seater for the garden and holiday home. The Italian manufacturer builds it under John Deere licence, with a tipping bed at the back and two 175 W motors. Peg Perego states 3.5 km/h in first gear and 6.8 km/h in second. It carries up to 60 kg and climbs slopes up to 17 %.

Peg Perego now lists a 12 V 12 Ah lithium battery for the Gator, while the Amazon listing does not state the battery type. A ride lasts about 37 minutes according to the manufacturer's table. It has no remote, lights or radio. It weighs 23.9 kg and measures 131 x 89.5 x 69 cm. The manual lists EN 71 and the CE mark.

Feature Detail
Licence John Deere Gator HPX
Battery 12 V
Motors 2 x 175 W
Speed 3.5 / 6.8 km/h, reverse 3.5 km/h
Age 3+
Maximum load 60 kg, 2 seats
Slope up to 17 %
Weight 23.9 kg
Price 699.00 €

Pros: two seats and 60 kg load, tipping bed and 17 % climbing, two gears, spare parts from the manufacturer.

Cons: most expensive in the comparison, no parental remote, short run time (about 37 min).

Our opinion: The Gator is built for two children to drive for years. For a garden with grass and gravel it is the most capable model in this selection, but for an asphalt park it is overpriced.

3. Rollplay Mini Cooper S 6V

Check on Amazon

The Rollplay Mini Cooper S is the choice for parents who put safety first. It tops out at 4 km/h and has soft start, a seat belt and a 2.4 GHz parental remote with a stop function. According to the listing, it is for children aged 3 and up and carries up to 35 kg.

It runs on 6 V, with 1-2 hours of driving and 8-12 hours of charging. It is light, 12 kg, and compact, 105 x 59 x 54.2 cm. It is expensive for a 6 V model, and older children quickly get bored at 4 km/h.

Feature Detail
Licence MINI Cooper S
Voltage 6 V
Speed up to 4 km/h
Age 3+
Maximum load 35 kg
Remote 2.4 GHz with stop button
Run / charge time 1-2 h / 8-12 h
Weight 12 kg
Price 287.85 €

Pros: parental remote with stop function, soft start and belt, low speed, light.

Cons: expensive for a 6 V model, older children outgrow it quickly, the listing does not state standards.

Our opinion: For the first car of a three-year-old who is still learning to steer, this is a calm, slow and safe option. If the child already rides a bike, go for 12 V.

4. Jamara Ride-on BMW M4 Li-Power 12.6

Check on Amazon

The Jamara BMW M4 is the only car in the comparison with a lithium-ion battery stated in its listing, at 12.6 V. A lithium battery is lighter than lead-acid and needs less attention during storage. According to the listing, a ride lasts more than an hour.

It has two motors, three speed levels, soft start and a 2.4 GHz parental remote with an emergency stop, and the child can also drive alone. The wheels are plastic with an Ultra Grip rubber ring, and the car has suspension, Bluetooth, AUX, USB and LED lights. A handle and wheels make it easy to carry. The listing does not give speed, load or weight.

Feature Detail
Licence BMW M4
Battery 12.6 V lithium-ion
Motors 2
Speed 3 levels, km/h not stated
Age 3+
Remote 2.4 GHz with emergency stop
Equipment suspension, Bluetooth, USB, LED, carry handle
Run time more than 1 h
Price 239.20 €

Pros: lithium battery, remote with emergency stop, suspension, easy to carry.

Cons: speed and load not stated, plastic wheels with a rubber ring, we could not check Jamara's website.

Our opinion: If you don't want to think about a lead-acid battery over winter, this is a practical choice. Ask the seller about the maximum load before buying.

5. Injusa Porsche Cayenne S 12V

Check on Amazon

The Injusa Porsche Cayenne S is a two-seater with a parental remote. The Spanish manufacturer builds it under Porsche licence, with a 12 V lead-acid battery, a top speed of 6 km/h and reverse. According to the listing, both seats have belts, and the brake is electric.

Injusa states dimensions of 134 x 81.5 x 58 cm, a weight of 30 kg and a 3-year warranty. Equipment includes FM radio, MP3, USB, microSD and LED lights. The maximum load does not match: Injusa says 30 kg and the Amazon listing 60 kg in total, so go with the lower figure. The listing cites EN 71 and EN 62115.

Feature Detail
Licence Porsche Cayenne S
Battery 12 V lead-acid
Speed up to 6 km/h
Age 3+
Seats 2, with belts
Maximum load 30 kg (Injusa), 60 kg (listing)
Remote yes
Weight 30 kg
Price 246.85 €

Pros: two seats with belts, parental remote, 3-year manufacturer warranty, radio and LED lights.

Cons: heavy (30 kg), unclear maximum load, 12 V for two children is slower on grass.

Our opinion: For siblings aged three to five, this is the only two-seater with a remote in the selection. If one child is much heavier, check the load with the seller.

6. Peg Perego John Deere Ground Force

Check on Amazon

The Peg Perego John Deere Ground Force is a tractor with a trailer for little farming fans. According to Peg Perego it has 330 W, drives at 3.5 or 7.3 km/h plus reverse, and carries 40 kg on the seat and 10 kg in the trailer.

It has a radio on the dashboard and an adjustable seat, and climbs slopes up to 10 %. A ride lasts about 40 minutes. With the trailer it is 169.5 cm long, so it takes up room in the garage, and it weighs 17.9 kg. There is no remote.

Feature Detail
Licence John Deere tractor with trailer
Battery 12 V
Power 330 W
Speed 3.5 / 7.3 km/h, reverse
Age 3+
Maximum load 40 kg + 10 kg in trailer
Size 169.5 x 63 x 68 cm
Run time about 40 min
Price 425.00 €

Pros: trailer included, two gears, radio, a model on the market for years.

Cons: no parental remote, 169.5 cm long, about 40 minutes of driving.

Our opinion: For a child who loves tractors, the trailer is half the fun: it holds leaves, sand or toys. For a flat and the park it is too big.

7. Injusa Minnie Mouse Quad 6V

Check on Amazon

The Injusa Minnie Mouse Quad is the cheapest vehicle in the comparison: 95.00 euros. It is for children aged 1 to 3, drives up to 3 km/h and carries 25 kg. It has three wide wheels, an accelerator pedal with automatic brake and a seat 26 cm off the ground.

It runs on a 6 V lead-acid battery and is made in Spain to EN 71. The listing does not give battery capacity, run time or dimensions. It is a small quad rather than a real car, but for a one-year-old's first rides it is enough.

Feature Detail
Licence Disney Minnie Mouse
Battery 6 V lead-acid
Speed up to 3 km/h
Age 1-3 years
Maximum load 25 kg
Wheels 3 wide
Brake automatic when the pedal is released
Price 95.00 €

Pros: lowest price in the comparison, for the youngest children, made in Spain to EN 71.

Cons: a quad, not a car, no remote, little technical data.

Our opinion: For a first birthday or second Christmas, this is a sensible gift that doesn't cost as much as a real car. For a three-year-old it is already too small.

Where can kids ride-on cars be driven?

Kids ride-on cars are not for the road. Peg Perego states in its manual that the vehicles do not comply with road traffic regulations and must not be used on public roads. In Croatia, the Road Traffic Safety Act (Article 124) bans playing on the carriageway, with a 30 euro fine.

We found no explicit provision in Croatian law covering battery ride-on cars on pavements. The law allows children's play everywhere in a traffic-calmed zone (Article 2, point 25). The safest places are the garden, a park or a playground, with constant adult supervision, which the manufacturers also require. Rules differ in other countries.

Battery and maintenance

Kids ride-on cars with lead-acid batteries need the most care. Fully charge the battery before the first ride: Peg Perego gives 10-15 hours for the Gator (lithium battery), and Actionbikes gives 10-12 hours of charging for the G63 lead-acid battery. After driving, charge as soon as the vehicle starts losing speed, and never leave the battery flat.

Over winter, charge the battery, disconnect it and store it somewhere cool and dry. Peg Perego advises charging at least once every three months, Injusa at least once a month. Don't leave the vehicle below 0 °C, as the motors and battery can be permanently damaged. Use only the original charger.

Frequently asked questions

What age are kids ride-on cars for?

It depends on voltage and speed. 6 V models such as the Injusa Minnie quad are for children aged 1 to 3. Manufacturers rate 12 V models such as the Peg Perego Gator for ages 3 and up, because they are too fast for younger children. 24 V models have more power, and Peg Perego rates them for ages 3 or 6 and up, depending on the model.

What is the difference between 6 V, 12 V and 24 V?

6 V models drive at about 3-4 km/h and are for the youngest. 12 V models usually manage 3-7 km/h, often with two gears, and cope better with grass. 24 V models have more power for slopes and rough ground and are meant for older children.

How long does the battery last and how long does it take to charge?

Peg Perego gives about 37 minutes for the Gator and about 40 minutes for the Ground Force. Actionbikes gives 1-1.5 hours of driving and 10-12 hours of charging for the G63, and Rollplay 1-2 hours of driving and 8-12 hours of charging for the Mini Cooper.

Is a kids ride-on car safe?

Toys in the EU must meet Directive 2009/48/EC and carry the CE mark, and electric ones are tested to EN 71 and EN 62115. For children up to three or four, choose a model with a parental remote and stop button, soft start and a belt. Manufacturers require constant adult supervision.

Can a child drive a ride-on car on the road or pavement?

Not on the road: manufacturers forbid it, and Croatian law bans playing on the carriageway with a 30 euro fine. We found no explicit rule for pavements. The safest places are the garden, a park or a traffic-calmed zone where children's play is allowed.

How do I store the battery over winter?

Fully charge the battery, disconnect it and store it somewhere cool and dry. Charge it at least once a month (Injusa) or at least once every three months (Peg Perego). Don't leave the vehicle below 0 °C.

How we tested

For this comparison we chose kids ride-on cars by age and voltage, safety features (remote, belt, soft start), number of seats, battery and price. We reviewed 17 models available on Amazon.de and checked every ASIN through Amazon's API. We preferred known manufacturers (Peg Perego, Injusa, Jamara, Rollplay, Actionbikes) over anonymous sellers. Data comes from Peg Perego and Injusa manuals and websites, the Actionbikes shop, and the Amazon listings for Rollplay and Jamara. Where a figure is not published, we say so. We left out the FINOOS UTV-MX 24 V buggy (369.90 euros) because of its lesser-known maker, and the Injusa Porsche Taycan (more expensive on Amazon than the Cayenne two-seater) and Peg Perego Mini Tractor (battery data on Amazon and from the manufacturer don't match). We checked the regulations on zakon.hr and the European Commission website. Prices are live Amazon.de prices from 30 October 2026. We did not physically test the vehicles.
